Just look at this thing! I don’t think they were this clean leaving the showroom! Someone CARED for this car. 1-owner, working AC, looks like the back seat was never used.... I love this car for what it is.
Sure it is probably slow like grandma, but who cares? It is epic!

Having a 5-speed on this sedan is especially rare, but AC too? It’s even rarerererer...er.
As someone who has overpaid for 80's Toyotas: that price is nuts.

I had a NUMMI Corolla. It had 1 option, A/C. Manual, radio only, white with blue interior. Drove it for 315,000 miles. I saw it driving around my college for at least a year after I traded it in.

The advantage is it won't try to kill its owner

I hate to break it to the nostalgia crew, but these were terrible cars, even when brand new. That car is worth about $750 real dollars - not $2,950 D ream D ollars, as advertised.

Terrible or just boring as hell?
They were everywhere 30 years ago- always struck me as being reliable, but dreadful with the slush box, and still not that exciting even with the stick. Luckily most of my memories of driving them were in stick shift cars.

I rode in plenty and they were small, tinny, cheap, uncomfortable. I am sure they were reliable, but that didn’t make them fun or anything. Terrible? Maybe not. But cert ai nly not worth anything.
I owned a 1982 2 door Corolla during my senior year in high school. I got it after I was rear ended in my 1982 Volvo 240 by a guy taking his young kid to a birthday party in his 1985 (I think) Corolla . He hit me at about 35 mph as I was trying to make a left (and waiting for tr affic to clear). His car was largely unrecognizable and I drove home (though later learned the frame was bent and the Volvo was tota led).

I ha d a coworker that owned this exact car, same blue paint even. He spent thousands having a reman engine put in, had the transmission rebuilt, new brakes all around, practically the whole ac system replaced, new al ternator, new exhaust, new tires, etc in the span of 18 months. Way more than it was worth. Then one day the r adiator started leaking, h e calls it quits and donated it to a charity. I was sctratching my head, after all that money he spent, a $100 radiator is where he draws the line. Had he replaced the radiator, he w ould have replaced almost every component that could fail and been goo d for another 100k miles at least. I hope someone repaired it and got some use out of all that time and money he spent . Would be a shame if it was scrapped.

That pretty much sums up all small cars in the 80s. Except that some of them weren’t reliable.
These things were pure beige back then. I don’t hate them, but I don’t really understand why anyone would want one, either.

You’re last statement sums up pretty much exactly how I feel.

This is Austin, so it might not have all that much rust.

Bottom of both fenders can be seen just from the pics, meaning there IS more rust that can’t.
